Avid Media Composer 3.0 for Mac
I’ve bitten the bullet and upgraded my Avid software from Xpress Pro to the industry-standard Media Composer version 3. Great features and sheer usability make for quick, slick, broadcast-standard programmes - from 15:1 offlines to 1:1 uncompressed onlines. All achieved on an 8-core Mac Pro with 8GB RAM attached to an Apple 30" Cinema Display, and over 1.5 TB of storage.
Add to the Mac Pro an Avid Mojo DNA, and digibeta, beta SP and other component sources can be connected to the Avid, with accelerated real-time effects and component-out monitoring. The miniG SATA RAID will easily deliver 1:1 uncompressed SD and HDV pictures via the Mojo.
You'll also find BBC-spec dual twin PPM meters for broadcast-standard sound monitoring, Magic Bullet Editors and Digital Film Tools film-look plug-ins, Boris FX 9 and Graffiti 5 full versions, Noise Industries Factory Tools with Organoptics plug-ins, and Sorenson Squeeze 5 for fast-encoding to pretty much every format going (including Flash - that's how my showreel on this site was encoded).
And should it be necessary to swap between Avid and Final Cut Pro, I own both Automatic Duck plug-ins to translate between Avid sequences and FCP.
Add to this my own Sony HVR-M25E HDV/DVCAM recorder and a 15” component JVC high-res monitor, and you can see I am well-placed to complete your next programme on Avid in double-quick time! Back to Edit Systems page
